Common examples of items that can be bought or crafted are listed here. Characters and GMs should be able to use these examples to create more items to be used throughout their game.
Adventuring Gear
These are items that can be found in tool kits or as individual items that have their own uses.

Candle | Used to light a room or for rituals and seances. Creates a 5ft bright light and a 5ft dim light. Multiple candles may be stacked onto one square to create a brighter light up to a reasonable amount. Lasts up to an hour. |
Canvas | An item used to create paintings, framed in various dimensions. |
Chalk | A writing utensil that is meant for wood and stone surfaces. |
Chisel | A set of chisels used for stone or wood. |
Clippers | A tool used to extract ingredients from ferns, shrubbery, etc. |
Compass | A device used to determine direction. |
Container | An item used to hold things. Can be a chest, barrel, crate, etc. etc. |
Crochet/Knitting needles | A set of instruments used in crafting. |
Easel | An instrument used for holding canvases to craft. |
Flint and steel | A set of equipment that will spark fuel to create a flame. |
Grappling hook | To be tied to the end of a rope and flung up toward a place the hook may catch. Enables easier climbing of surfaces. |
Hammer | A metal hammer for a crafting purpose. |
Hourglass | A vessel with which to measure time up to an hour. |
Incense Burner | Used in rituals and seances for cleansing or invocation. |
Ink pen | A pen used for dipping in ink and writing or paper or parchment. |
Knife set | A set of knives used for preparing dishes. |
Lock | A mechanism used to ensure contents of a space such as a room or a chest remains closed. The difficulty of picking a lock depends on the quality of the lock. |
Lock pick | An instrument used to bypass a lock without the need of a key. Can only be used on locks with keyholes. |
Mallet | A wooden mallet used for crafting. |
Mess kit | A compact kit with a pot, pan, two bowls, two plates, and a utensil used for preparing a dish. |
Miner’s pickaxe | A pick that allows for the gathering of stone and minerals used for crafting. |
Mortar and pestle | A stone or wood mortar and pestle used to prepare ingredients for crafting. |
Palette | An instrument used to hold and mix paints when crafting. |
Paint knife | A knife used in the crafting of paints. |
Paper | A loose sheet of paper to write on. |
Parchment | A thick sheet of parchment paper to write on. |
Pouch | A pouch used for storing and carrying. Can be put on a belt or in a bag. |
Pencil | A lead pencil used for writing on all manner of surfaces. |
Rations | A day’s worth of food for on the road that can last for months before spoiling. |
Piton/stake | A metal spike that may be used for climbing or staking something to the ground. |
Rope | A 50 ft bundle of rope. |
Ruler | A tool used for measurement. |
Scroll Case | A weatherproof cast for scrolls such as documents or maps. |
Sewing needle | Used with thread for crafting and mending items. |
Sextant | A tool for navigation that measures angular distance between two visible objects. |
Shovel | A hand shovel that can be used to dig small holes or other tasks. |
Signal Horn | A horn that is carved out and able to be used as an auditory signal for up to a half a mile away. |
Soapstone | A writing utensil that is meant for stone surfaces. |
Spyglass | An instrument for seeing long distances. |
Steel mirror | A small steel mirror used to signal, look around corners, and to examine one’s self. |
Tarp | A weatherproof tarp able to be used as a means of coverage. |
Tent | A small, simple structure to provide coverage and comfort in fair weather conditions. |
Tongs | A tool used to hold items in the midst of crafting. |
Torch | A tool used to create light for 1 hour. This creates a 15 ft bright light and a 15 ft dim light past the bright light. |
Tweezers | A tool used to collect ingredients or remove things from ingredients such as seeds, thorns/needles, pedals, etc. |
Vial | Used to store ingredients for crafting or to hold crafted ingredients such as potions or oils. |
Water skin | A bladder that is able to hold multiple days worth of water. |
Wedge | A triangular block used for crafting purposes or other various tasks. |
Whetstone | Used to craft and maintain weapons. |
Woodcutting axe | An axe used to gather wood used for crafting. |
Tool Kits
These are travel sized versions of tools that may be used on the road for small or simple tasks.

Enchanter’s Tools | A set of colored candlesticks, incense, incense burner, mortal and pestle, soapstone, chalk, and a small blank book to store incantations. |
Healer’s Kit | A set of bandages, splints, tweezers, clippers, and a pouch to hold medicines. Can be used once as part of a Short Rest to completely restore all HP to a creature before needing to be restocked by gathering medicine or buying ingredients. |
Herbalist’s Tools | A mortal and pestle, tweezers, clippers, pouches, vials, and a vial of ink with a small blank book to make notes and press or print plants. Allows for the gathering of ingredients. |
Mason’s Tools | A small set of mallets and hammers, chisels, wedges, brushes, and a shovel. Can be used for stonework and woodworking alike. |
Musical Instrument | A crafted instrument used to create music, provoking emotion and joy to those around them. Allows for the performance and composition of song, which can be used to make good company or some coin. |
Navigator’s Tools | A compass, calipers, sextant, ruler, spyglass, lead pencil and a blank sheet of map paper in a scroll case. Grants a +5 to land, sea, and vehicle travel. |
Painter’s Tools | A small easel, palette, paints, a small wash bowl and a set of brushes with a painting knife. Allows for crafting pieces of art. |
Smith’s Tools | A small hammer, tongs, and a hole punch set. Allows for repairing items and mending armor while on the road. |
Tinker’s Tools | A set of hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and tubing cutters. Includes a set of lock picks. Allows for repairing items and crafting simple locks and traps while on the road. |
Weaver’s Tools | A set of needles and thread, knitting and crocheting needles, a ball of yarn, and a handful of cloth patches. Allows for repairing items and simple crafting while on the road. |
Clothes
Crafted items that are worn and may be used for daily use or for specific occasions such as a social outing or the weather.

Cold weather outfit | A multiple layered set of clothing made for cold weather conditions, includes thermal underwear, a thick coat, a thick cloak, scarf, mittens, boots, and a hat that covers the ears. Allows for traversing cold conditions comfortably and the ability to traverse extreme cold conditions without penalty. |
Common outfit | A simple one layer outfit used for non-laborious activity. |
Entertainer’s outfit | A set of clothes meant to capture the eye and compliment a performance. Grants an Advantage on performances when attempting to captivate an audience. |
Noble’s outfit | A set of expensive clothing, often with artistic patterned stitching or even gems and metals being worked into the clothing. A noble often has a signet ring or necklace in order to prove their lineage. |
Peasant’s outfit | Nothing much but a set of rags. Light and thin cloth pants and shirt, with cloth wraps for shoes. |
Royal outfit | A set of the most exquisite robes that can be crafted and bought. Custom tailored for kings, queens, and royal family members which often includes the royal signet into the clothing. |
Scholar’s outfit | A set of robes for those who are on the quest for knowledge. Includes a robe, belt, a cap, and a sash or scarf or cloak. |
Traveler’s outfit | A layered set of clothing with leather boots, pants, a button shirt, a jacket with pockets, a cloak or a scarf, and a wide brimmed hat. |
Maps
Maps are man-made sketches of the world that help with navigating the captured area. When acquiring a reliable and accurate map the interpreter gains a +2 on Geography or Dungeoneering checks based on the type of map.

Perfumes
Perfumes are crafted items that create airborne effects. These aromas may be used for many purposes and are often a fun experimentation for proficient alchemists.

Beast Repellent | A concentrated extract of a Beast or other creature that has a chance to repel a creature within a 1 mile area from the user for 24 hours. |
Cologne | Gives off a 20 ft Aura around the user that grants the user a +2 on Diplomacy skill checks, but creatures within the Aura have an Advantage on Awareness checks to detect the user. |
Scented incense | A blend of incense and other ingredients that is burned for enjoyment as part of a Short Rest. All who are partaking in the Short Rest gain a +1 to hit and damage on all spells that are Sustainable. |
Scented salts | A blend of bath salts and other ingredients that enhance the Relaxation Downtime, giving the user a Resistance to being Enraged for up to 72 hours. |
Poisons/Toxins
Concentrated extracts that are applied to the creature or to weapons in order to administer poisons and toxins. These can be extracted from dead or alive creatures or from plants that can pose threats to creatures. When attempting to apply these to creatures the attack targets the creature’s Fortitude Defense instead.

Sumac extract | A poison that can be used as a Standard Action that creates a 15 ft Cone. Creatures within the Cone that are hit by the attack are Poisoned for 2 (1d4) additional Poison damage at the beginning of their turn for 3 turns. Poisoned creatures lose Sustain on any Sustained spells and the ability to Sustain spells as long as they are Poisoned. |
Beast venom | A venom that strickens the muscles when injected. The creature is Poisoned for 2 (1d4) additional Poison damage at the beginning of their turn and is Slowed for 3 turns. |
Nerve gas | An airborne toxin that can be thrown up to 30 ft away and creates a 10 ft Burst. Those in the Burst that are hit by the attack are Stunned until the end of their next turn and Dizzied for another 2 turns after. |
Potions
Potions are alchemist brews that can be administered and are meant for alleviating ailments. Creating potions often requires Groceries gathered by Herbalist’s Tools and other parts depending on the recipe.

Oils
Oils are useful crafts that have many applications. Oils can be ingredients or can be burned or applied to creatures or items for their effects.

Spell Focuses
For characters who are focused on being powerful casters, a spell focus held in the off-hand grants a +3 bonus to hit with their spells. There are multiple types spell focuses that yield different benefits when enchanted.

Ingredients required in order to create a Dish or items with Alchemist’s Tools. Groceries by themselves don’t offer any benefits when eaten, but they will provide nourishment to hunger. The list of ingredients here are incomplete and encouraged to be expanded on as your game needs. The benefits of Grocery items are limitless and can always be a helpful tool to place in environments for the players who are keen to gathering and cooking.

Services are often what drives commerce among populations in order to drive a civilization. These are common amongst the life of adventurers.
Commerce and Lodging
These are general categories of buildings that the players will encounter as they travel from place to place. The list not limited to what is provided and is ever expanding based on the style of game being played.

Guardhouse | A place for law enforcement to train, recruit, and provide space for their guardsmen. Often also houses barracks for keeping criminals. |
Grocer/Market | A place where a selection of groceries and crafting ingredients may be bought. This could be a marketplace with vendors, an established business, or a franchise. |
Guildhall | A place where craftsman may go in order to learn, teach, have Workshop and crafting material access for a discount if able to be provided, and can be provided work during Downtime. |
Inn | A place for lodging, where there are rooms available to stay for a time. Accommodations may include more than just a room with a place to sleep depending on the quality of the venue. |
Restaurant/Tavern | A place where people gather for food, drink, and merriment. The atmosphere would depend on the venue and the quality of the Dishes provided may vary depending on the location; Poor. A low quality Dish that wasn’t that worthy of making and yields no benefits other than fending off starvation. Common. A decent Dish that yields one benefit based on the main ingredient. Good. A tasty Dish that yields two benefits based on the main and side ingredient. Premium. A delicious Dish that yields all three benefits based on the main ingredient and two side ingredients. |

Theater | A place such as an amphitheater, ballroom, or a plaza where one can spend time to unwind and watch a performance such as a concert, debate, play, etc. |
