FAQ

How do I determine the level or challenge of a creature?

All creatures within the index are created as “Level 1” creatures, meaning that any creature may be used at any level as long as they are scaled up as the players gain more power. This allows for full creativity and accessibility within a campaign setting at any level.

Why do items and equipment not have weight or cost?

There are no mechanics for carry weight in this game, allowing the table to determine a more “adventure” style game or a more “realistic” style game without creating arbitrary systems that may contradict most tables. Similarly, economies among tables and games may vary vastly and as there can be a general estimation on currency, but currency may change depending on the game and an arbitrary value delivers little to the overall rule set of the game.

Why a d20 system for combat when skills use a dice pool?

A d20 captures the unpredictable aspect of combat, for example a low roll could be described as the opponent being able to read the attack and defend easily, or that the armor was able to shrug off the blow. For critical hits, only rolling on die makes calculating the critical range easier based on the base roll.

However, if the table would rather use dice pools they may do so, simply using proficiency in the weapon with the same pool as skill proficiency. Whatever is more comfortable and fun for the table is the right call.
