Rune Staving

The Runescriber understands the Runic language and can apply a magical Runestaff to their equipment in order to bolster themselves in various ways. The Runescriber chooses two Runestaff abilities on 1st level. The Runescriber’s pieces of equipment may only be enchanted by one Runestaff at a time and learns an additional Runestaff at 3rd, 8th, 13th and 18th level;

  • Bloodlust Runestaff. The Runescriber uses their Minor Action to inscribe their weapon, allowing them to roll an additional damage die on their weapon. This additional die does half the damage back to the Runescriber. Once the Runescriber is Bloodied, the Rune Staff breaks and the Runescriber may use a Health Die to heal themselves, provided they still have one to use and their next successful hit with their weapon is a Critical.
  • Shieldwarden Runestaff. The Runescriber uses their Minor Action to inscribe their shield, allowing them to imbue their shield with either Fire, Water, or Lightning for 1 minute. The Runescriber has Resistance to the chosen element and if the Runescriber uses their shield as an attack, such as using the Fighting Style Bash or Phalanx Guard the Runestaff grants an additional 1d4 elemental damage of the chosen element. If the Runescriber is hit while taking a Full Defense or is being attacked while using the Fighting Style Parry or Shield Wall, the Runescriber may apply 1d4 + Strength modifier elemental damage of the chosen element to the attacker.
  • Inspiring Runestaff. The Runescriber uses their Minor Action to inscribe their armor, allowing them to use their Minor Action to grant an additional 1d8 to any check a number of times equal to their Intelligence modifier before the Runestaff breaks. Additionally the Runescriber is granted a +3 to all Social skill group checks while the Runestaff is active. This Runestaff may only be used once per long rest.
  • Aegis Runestaff. The Runescriber uses their Minor Action to inscribe their shield for 1 minute. The shield is now Light and loses any penalties it may have, additionally the you may take a Full Defense even when Flanked, and may add your Intelligence modifier to damage using Bash with your shield.
  • Seer’s Sight Runestaff. The Runescriber uses his Minor Action to inscribe their armor for 24 hours. The Runescriber rolls 2d20, choosing to add or subtract their Intelligence modifier to each roll. The rolls are kept as Divination rolls. The Runescriber may choose to apply these rolls to any roll they make or any roll against them. Once the two Divination rolls are used the rune breaks.
  • Stormbringer Runestaff. The Runescriber uses their Minor Action to inscribe their weapon. The weapon sparks with a chain lightning on enemies when hit, striking up to two more targets within 30 ft of each other for Lightning damage equal to half of the original source. This may be done a number of times equal to the Runescriber’s Intelligence modifier before the rune breaks. This Runestaff may only be used once per encounter.
  • Windcaller Runestaff. The Runescriber uses their Minor Action to inscribe their shield for 1 minute. The Runescriber may use their Reaction to Push a creature who moves adjacent to them a number of feet equal to 5 * Intelligence modifier.
  • Witchhunter Runestaff. The Runescriber uses their Minor Action to inscribe their armor for 1 minute. The Runescriber gains a damage reduction equal to their Intelligence modifier to all damage types except for Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing damage.
  • Aetherflow Runstaff. The Runescriber uses their Minor Action to inscribe their weapon for 1 minute. When the Runescriber deals weapon damage they may heal a number of Mana Points equal to half the damage dealt. This is done a number of times equal to the Runescriber’s Intelligence modifier, then the Runestaff breaks.

Runic Attunement

At 2nd level the Runescriber has Advantage on all Mysticism checks when involving runes and when using a Spellcraft check to Planeshift with Runic structures the Runescriber negates all complications when Planeshifting.

Additional Attack
